Sponsorship Benefits
Welcome to a Strategic Partnership:
The Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA) is a research and engagement institute that pursues LSE’s long-term commitment to place Africa at the heart of debates on global issues by engaging with the continent through innovative research, teaching, and public events. The mission of the institute is to: i) focus on the study of, and engagement with, Africa; ii) promote the visibility of Africa in teaching, research, and policy engagement across LSE; and iii) support independent multi-disciplinary scholarship, open and issue-oriented debate, and evidence-based policy making.
In 2023, FLIA introduced a three-year strategic plan charting how it seeks to achieve its vision of putting Africa at the heart of LSE. The strategy also shows how the Institute seeks to increase its outreach and communication activities, expand its teaching work, and enhance support for African colleagues in London and across Africa. In line with the strategy, FLIA has built a school-wide community that fosters belonging and co-creation through the Programme for African Leadership (PfAL). PfAL connects African Masters students across LSE through extracurricular programming to inspire them to be agents of change within their cohorts, professions, and communities.
The Institute also offers two funded African Fellowships per year to social science researchers from African universities to foster collaboration, teaching, and research opportunities.
To help us fulfil our vision for the expansion of FLIA, the Institute is eager to collaborate with different individuals and organisations who share our ambitions. If you are interested in exploring partnerships with the Institute, please get in touch with Lesley Orero (Africa Engagement Programme Manager) at l.orero@lse.ac.uk.
